It has been an up-and-down season for Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, but on Sunday he showed that the highs are better than just about any defensive back in the NFL today.
While up 17-4 on the Rams in the fourth quarter, the Cardinals had just lost quarterback Carson Palmer to a knee injury. Peterson would pick his teammates up with back-to-back interceptions, taking the second back 30 yards for a defensive touchdown to give Arizona some breathing room.
The two interceptions were the first of the season for Peterson and the first touchdown off an interception in his career, which helped him earn NFC defensive player of the week honors on Wednesday. This is the second time Peterson has won NFC defensive player of the week, making him the only player ever to win defensive and special teams player of the week multiple times.
