Previewing Arizona vs. Minnesota
POSTED BY: PATRICK PETERSON in NEWS
This week’s crucial matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings
has potential playoff implications on the line. Each team sits just outside of the NFC playoff picture, and whichever team ends up losing could be on the outside looking in for the remainder of the season. Arizona is just a game behind the Washington Redskins, who hold the final wild card spot.
Minnesota is just a half game behind Washington, but also hold the same record as
the current NFC North leading Detroit Lions. The matchup pits the two best defenses in the NFC. Arizona is first in the conference in total defense, allowing just 295.2 yards per game. Meanwhile, the Vikings sit right behind them, allowing just 308.8 yards per game.
Cardinals star cornerback Patrick Peterson will have his hands full with Vikings
receiver Stefon Diggs, who has back-to- back 13-reception games. Peterson and the
Cardinals secondary is certainly up to the task, considering they rank No. 2 in the
NFL in passing defense, allowing just 195.2 yards per game. Arizona has been ever
better on the road, allowing only 144 passing yards per game, which leads the NFL
by 45 yards.
Sunday’s game in Minnesota is set to kickoff at 1:00pm ET/10:00 PT.
